Sunny in Seattle Part one

Today Annelise, Nicole and I went to Pike Place market and it was a blast! We had so much fun walking around and seeing all the cute little shops and trying all the samples! Good stuff they have down there. I love the idea of an open market where you can come every morning and buy your bread for the day and some pretty flowers. That kind of freshness is just so wonderous to me. I wish I lived in the city... *sigh*.

Anyways. We started off in the market looking at all the crazy fresh produce. We tried some bread with vinegars and oils and they were delicious in a more sophisticated kind of way. You know, the difference between comfort food and ah-ha food. Then came some apple slices. One of the most flavorful apples I have had in a while. A++ for organics! We then found a cute little Tea place where they had some orange cinnamon herbal tea which we also tried. I have heard that herbal teas are very good but no one has ever explained to me just how to make it just so because the only tea I have tasted was quite bland and unappealing. If you know the secret, please enlighten me!

We browsed around and finally decided it was time for some lunch. Nicole's mom knew of a little soup and sandwich place called the Alaskan Sour Dough Bakery. There Annelise and I shared a yummers Chicken Pesto Panini. The crust of the bread was so hard, but the inside so fluffy. Arugala and Provologn (I think...) It was very good. Then more shopping.

We headed to a bakery called Le Panier. It was amazing! It smelled so buttery and delightful! It was a quaint little french bakery that had loads of sweet confections and crusty breads. Annelise, in want of a baguette to peak out of her "grocery" bag, bought a long baguette. Nicole bought some little chocolate cookies. They were square and slightly puffy. Airy sweet and melt in your mouth they were happiness, especially on such a beautiful day. One of those cookies that you don't feel super bad about eating.

Next was Beecher's cheese, where we only stopped in for a quick look. They were actually making their cheese right there for everyone to see. It was very cool. Which reminds me. Back up a little: earlier we had gone to a little shop that had all the different imported foods and stuff there like the little chocolate wafer cookies from australia, lady fingers, and all the special cheeses and meats. Wine was there too. For those of you who don't know me, I have an very clean fettish for glass bottles and jars and containers. If it is clear glass I love it. So the newest thing that has found my fancy is wine bottles. Please don't think ill of me for it. Today I found a beautiful light blue bottle with some Sauvignon Blanc and I thought it was so pretty that I bought it!!! Can you believe me!?! I bought alcohol. I am planning to either cook with it and then keep the bottle, Dump it out and keep the bottle, or just keep everything all sealed up nice and beautimus... We shall see.

Anyways, after all of that we went to the produce again and bought some stuff. Annelise and I split a pomello, a mango and three mini concord pears. They look so delicious and we can't wait to have a fruity breakfast in the morning! It will be so much fun.

Whooo. What an awesome day! I will post pictures tommorrow when I have more time!

Letters to My Parents 5

Hey Mom,

Kaylee is going shopping either tomorrow or in the next few days and I need a new bra and a couple pairs of new jeans. I have 4 pairs right now but one of them is so worn out in the crotch that I am very worried that if I wear them to school, they will rip out on me. So I was wondering if you could put some money in my PayPal account. I tried asking Valerie before about what you left and she won't tell me anything... at all.

Anyways, Things are going very good! I have been so busy lately. Finals were this week along with the monologues, first rehearsal and set building.

So I will start at the beginning

Wednesday was the monologue showcase. I was so nervous you have no idea. I had heart palpitations from 4:00 till 7:00! Thick, squelching beats. I tried exercise to calm it down, but even after a sweaty hour on the elliptical, my heart wouldn't calm down. I wore one of Valerie’s black pencil skirts because we had to dress simple and nice; no jeans solid pants and shirts.
I was almost at the end. There was one other group after Alexa's (which is the one I was in) It was me, then Celina, then Tina, so I didn't get to see theirs, which was a little sad but oh well. I was off stage waiting for Kate, who was before me to go, and my heart started racing and my legs started shaking so I got into character, channeling my nervousness into my awkward twitchy person. I walked out on stage after Alexa announced me and went for it! I spoke loud and clear, annunciating my words. The spotlight was so bright that I couldn't see anything except the couple in the front row who were holding hands. I did all the movements Alexa had told me to do and some that I added myself on the fly. After I was done I stood there with my head down on stage and counted to 10 then walked off. As I was walking back into the audience place Saxton walked out and he told me that I did "SO GOOD!" and he was serious. Then Nate walked out and said "Yeah! You really did :)" How cool is that? So I wasn't convinced at first that I did as good as they said. Things were solidified on

Thursday was the second best day ever! In drama it was the last day of the semester and that meant that this was the last class with all of the people there.
http://www.facebook.com/jessica.maloy?v=feed&story_fbid=292370174570#!/photo.php?pid=917267&op=1&o=global&view=global&subj=1664061101&id=1421506728&fbid=1339814461706
First Ms.Lloyd told us that she was very pleased with our performances and then she said that she wanted to recognize the people who got 100%. Guess who was one of them? ME!!!!!! She told me that I was amazing and that it was one of the best of the entire night!! :) :) :D She didn't have anything to correct me on, but she did have things for the other 5 people who got 100%
Later we all got in a circle and said what we learned in drama this semester about ourselves and then about drama. I said that I learned that it is okay to be me, not to worry about what others think and about messing up; that I don't have to be a cookie cutter. Then I said that I learned that Acting was a lot easier that I had thought. In the beginning I didn't think I could do it and that I was crazy to even try and it turns out that I can do it if I put my mind to it.
Then the directors got to say things about drama and they all talked about me.
Nate said that when we all first came in that he thought that we weren’t going to be super amazing and stuff. He said, for example, that I was a classic example of shyness and that last night I "Blew me away!" Then Saxton talked about how you never stop learning and that, for example, he will always remember how I said pee (I said it a little too loud on purpose and then looked startled and like Oops... :)?) and that if he ever has to say that that he will say it like I did :)!
Then I don't remember exactly what Alexa said but she motioned me!
Then they went around the circle and said good things about each of us. Alexa said that I was such a great kid, that I was very respectful and that when she gave me a suggestion that I would take it and run with it and Do amazing with it. Saxton commented about how I said "pee" again and then Nate just commented on the kids that needed to improve a little. I wasn't talked to.

Friday was pretty fun too. I had my AP Bio final, which I got a B- on!!! That is SUPER good. Then we had our first rehearsal. It was from 3:15 to 7:00 in the choir room. I didn't want to wait at school by myself so I walked around with Megan to a couple of her classes to get some business done and then we went to the theatre to find out about rehearsal. We ran into James and He is SO amazingly nice. He totally likes Megan and they are so cute because she likes him too! I am so happy for them. Anyways, he told us what time and stuff and then he had to leave. I walked home with Megan to her house and played on her piano for about 15 minutes and then her mom gave us a ride to Kentwood. Her mom is such a wonderful lady and she said that it was no problem that she gave us a ride and anytime. We got there right on time and had lots of fun. I am part of a small girl’s chorus that will be singing special parts. I'm not 100% sure what or when but She kept us after for a little bit and told us that she picked us because she knew that we could sing good! I was part of that group which means that I'm not horrible. Singing. Ms.Lloyd then said who she wanted to come the next day for set building; I was one of them. The other thing was that I spent 9 hours studying for the AP Bio test and only got 3 hours of sleep. I fell asleep in math for 30 minutes exactly! Cool internal alarm.

Then, I got home and Annelise and Stephanie had talked to me about getting together so I exercised and then went over to Annelise's house and spent the night. We fell asleep at 2 and I got 5 hours of sleep. They took me to the Breakfast activity that morning and I stayed until 9:50. I found out that Loriel was leaving right at the time I needed to go and so I got a ride with her to Kentwood. Set building began at 10 and it was the BEST DAY EVER! It was so much fun. First, Megan and I and Dreya and Christina all traced Mr. Marvels Giant wagon on to a big piece of "lion" (Lye - on)? With sharpie so people can paint it later. Then I helped Drill posts in for Dorothy Gale's front porch and build the roof and all of it with Megan and James. James was really fun to be around and it was pretty much James, Megan and I. James kept telling me how cool he thought I was and how much he liked me. Then later at the end Megan was telling me that right now and where she is at, that she really appreciates me and really likes being my friend! :) I stayed at the theatre until 7. At the end it was just me, Megan and James and Lloyd and an old guy named mike and then Mr. White (I can't remember what his first name is) I helped Mr. White build Dorothy Gale's room. I stayed till the very end with the hardcore junkies and Ms.Lloyd told me that I was a really great and hard worker and she asked if I had ever worked with tools before and I told her that I hadn't. I really think that everybody likes me.

It's super awesome because I have never felt like I fit in perfectly anywhere and here I feel like I do. Since after the first month of school, I have loved drama. Even though there have been hard days and lots of nerves, the people are all so nice and I feel good when I am around them. The real theatre people that is, there were some kids in my drama class that I didn't really like. It's very cool also because I heard so many people talk about how it was like a family and everybody was nice and accepting. I didn't believe them because there have been so many other places where you were supposed to be accepted and lobed and it just wasn't that for me. Judo, Track, clubs, and others. This just feels good and right.

Anyways. When I got home from that, I ate some dinner and Kaylee got home and asked me to go with her to a singles party. It wasn't at a church or anything; it was at some kid's house out in Maple Valley. He was going to get baptized on the 20th and his parents were on a cruise somewhere. It was very... interesting. One cool thing that did happen was that Jeff Watcott was there and he introduced himself and I asked him what his last name was. I said my name was Jessica and that I had been in his ward a while back. He was like "Are you Phil’s daughter?!" And he thought that it was super crazy. He and Brad Sant came over and said to tell "Phillory" hi! So HI! Phillory :) They said that you were super cool.
We came home at around midnight. Good times.

One last thing I wanted to ask you was that if Megan Ingalls could come over on Friday and if we could stay at home.
Here are the reasons why I know that we would be okay and why we should be allowed to:
1. Megan is a really great person. Very respectful and not crazy or a party kid. So we wouldn't trash the house.
2. I have stayed at the Clarke's house alone with their two kids and we were fine. I know what to do to be safe and stuff.
3. Finally, there are neighbors that I know and am friends with that we could go to if anything bad happened.
4. Kaylee was going to eat dinner with us and if I needed a ride or anything, she, Stacy and Loriel have said that if I ever need a ride to just give them a call.
We would be totally safe and have lots of fun. Please think about this and I trust you to make the right decision :)

I got your post card! Hope you have fun in London!

Love, and don't forget to send another postcard!

Cute-ified Totes :)

A long time ago I mentioned to Annelise that I had wanted to decorate totes. Well, the other day she found some at walmart and she asked me if I wanted to come over and decorate them with her. On tuesday, Stacy Jackson was kind enough to give me a ride to Joanne's. I got two fabrics, some buttons and ribbon. Here are the pictures :)

I purchased an extra yard of the blue in hopes that I will be able to use it in my next quilt!! Yay Fabric!

The Princess Teaparty!

I had been wanting to do one of these for mutual for SO long and finally, in the summer, Tami told me "Jessica, here's a date, plan it... all" and I was SO excited! Tonight it came at last! Here is the evidence of the wonderful time we had!

Stephanie Bush was such a good DJ! Thank you much for letting us use you ipod and always being the one to run over and change the song if it wasn't up to the princess standard :)
Hallie (?) Baumgartener. She and her sister Hannah were Nicole's buddies. she made some bomb cookies!

Some of the princesses cookies. One of the things we did was decorate sugar cookies to eat with our "tea" (more commonly referred to as Hot Chocolate)

We had some extra paper and some time to kill so we spruced up the front white boards with a last minute welcoming poster, which we let the princesses paint while we waited for every one to show up. they are truly artists!

Marci! our outstanding leader who helped me tons! thanks for the "tea cups" (really espresso cups... which i don't actually know why she has them) and glitter! I'm sure the relief society will love the extra sparkle in the room on Sunday :)

Sha-naynay (bailey) and arenia. Arenia didn't invite a girl and didn't really help. but she did decorate the 5 best cookies we had...

Cute Little Jersey Huerta! I loved her slippers. she looked so comfy. she reminds me of the Olsen twins. she is super adorable!

The most important person there! (well, her and Annelise tie for first because without my super duper bestie buddy, this wouldn't have been possible) Natty Perkins was my buddy and we had a blast! this little sweetheart was so laid back and willing to do what ever even leading the music like a pro conductor and showing all the girls how to dance for real. I'm so glad she came. and I way loved her bombsauce shoes! a tad too small, but way cute! brings back good memories...

Nicole's other buddy, Hannah Baumgartner! Her dress was legit. Nicole:"Hannah, how was your day?" Hannah: holds up two fingers and goes back to work she was a silent cutie. she also made very nice cookies and stuck to Nicole like glue. she also has one of the cutest smiles I've ever seen.

Shanaynay and her cousin Jersey. Jersey was pretty quiet, but very cute with her slippers. my favorite part was how bailey made her own crown and left the kids to Marci... :)

Annelise and her sweetheart buddy Leah Broadbent. Leah was so sweet, she even volunteered to give the opening prayer for us. Annelise helped her with it and it was absolutely precious! She and Annelise totally match each other super well. both quiet on the outside, but sugary sweet and a ball to be around on the inside.

Nicole and her buddies, with Leah checking out the balloons with the cookie stealer, stealing some cookies in the background. good times :)

Natty and I working on her crown. she put so many jewels on it, it really was a princess crown. color coordinated and everything (red (her fave color) and white) she was such a sweetie!!!

And the grand finale. it was a success and they all had fun (from what i could tell... you judge for yourself from this picture) a real princess here.
thank you SUPER much Annelise for running around shopping last minute and coming early with all the things i forgot to help me set up.
thank you Jenni Warner for helping me blow up balloons while you were waiting for the meeting to be over. I owe you guys some sugar cookies or something... be ready :)
thank you Marci for bringing the "tea set" and for the fun decorations only a cool aunt like you would have.
Finally, thank you to mi padre for all the gnarly photography. I very much appreciate it! and thanks to all the girls that dressed themselves up and came and all the big girls that helped!

(A little bit late) Birthday post!

It took me a while to get the pictures for this post, but now that I finally have them here it is! Annelise and I had talked last year about filling our seminary room with balloons for Sister Tice because she is just awesome like that. Well things didn't work out for us to be able to do that, so I forgot about it. Annelise, being the super wonderful friend didn't forget and so after I came home from taking the PSAT and getting lunch with my mom, there she was with some of my other friends (Kaile, Arenia and Katelan) and my room was filled to my knees with balloons and she even painted a poster! Annelise also got me a mini scrapbook, a teal stamp pad and pictures from our trips together. I'm so glad we're friends! she is just so amazing.

After that, my mom and I went shopping and then saw Where the Wild things are. At GAP, I got a black and white wrap dress that I wore to the dance that was that night. The dance was super fun, I danced with the person I wanted to so it was all wonderful. All together, I had a super fun 15th birthday! Thanks guys!
